About Us

Nestled deep in the Atxondo valley, at the foothills of the magical Mt. Anboto, we find Etxebarri. Far from the noise, the restaurant preserves ancient techniques of grill cooking using carefully selected firewood from different trees to work in harmony with the locally cultivated, natural produce, to offer endless possibilities of truly wonderful dishes.

Earth, ocean or fire. The decision is made each day, based upon which seasonal products are most freshly available. The result is a home-grown menu, beating in time with nature’s rhythm, humbly served and carefully and consistently put together with respect and a delicate touch.

How to find us

From Bilbao:

From Bilbao take the AP-8 motorway towards Donostia-San Sebastián.
After crossing the toll of Durango leave the motorway at the first exit “84″ direction Abadiño-Elorrio-Markina.
Immediately take exit “46″ by the N-636 direction Abadiño-Elorrio-Atxondo.
Just after going through the Gaztelua tunnel exit by the B-3336 direction Atxondo-Abadiño.
At the roundabout take left towards Atxondo and approximately to 1.2 kms. deviate to the right direction Atxondo-Axpe-Arrazola.
Go through the village and after 1 km. you will find the detour with a signal indicating Axpe.
Take this detour and arrive to the Axpe square, on arrival at your left you will find the parking of Asador Etxebarri.

From the Termibus coach station in Bilbao, take the Bizkaibus to Durango (they leave every hour, on the hour).
Get off at Durnago and take the next bus to Axpe/Arrazola.
Get off at Axpe and the restaurant is directly opposite the bus stop.

At the Bilbao train station, take the Euskotren to Durango.
Upon arrival at Durango, you will need to walk to the bus station and from there you will need to get a bus to Axpe/Arrazola.
Get off at Axpe and the restaurant is directly opposite the bus stop.


From Donostia:

From Donostia-San Sebastian take the AP-8 motorway towards Bilbao.
Leave the motorway by exit “84″ direction Abadiño-Elorrio-Berriz-Markina.
At the roundabout continue left looking for the entrance to the AP-8 towards Donostia-San Sebastian, before entering AP-8, take right to the national road N-636 towards Abadiño-Elorrio-Atxondo.
